Valerie Lawson
Died 22nd September 2016

It is with great sadness that we report the sudden and unexpected death of friend and colleague Valerie Lawson.  Val, an active runner until her very last days and long-time member of Clayton le Moors Harriers, died on 22nd September.
As members of Clayton le Moors Harriers for many decades she and husband Richard were instrumental in the success of the Clayton Wrinkles entertaining a growing and closely-knit circle of friends to post-run snacks in their home on a weekly basis.
Her association with the administrative side of the Mid Lancs League started when in 2004 Richard offered to organize cross-country at Towneley Park and continued to stage events annually for the next ten years.  Val naturally helped out and later, seeing the need, in 2009 volunteered to take on registration where she provided invaluable help.  It's in this role that most League members will know her as she distributed numbers, advised unsure competitors and fielded questions kindly from the other side of the desk.
She will be very much missed not least as a cheerful presence at cross-country and our thoughts and sympathy are with Richard and her family and her many dear friends from the Clayton Wrinklies.                                                                  Dawn Lock
